WE ARE AT WAR, PRESIDENT TRUMP

WE ARE AT WAR, PRESIDENT TRUMP

WE ARE AT WAR WITH THOSE FORCES THAT CAUSE UNEMPLOYMENT

The enemy is not exactly who you say it is, Mr. President. TRADE? It’s true that many manufacturing jobs have gone to low wage countries such as China, Bangladesh and Mexico. But that is just one side of our economic coin. The other side is our agricultural and cattle exports, billions of dollars worth for our farmers and ranchers affecting tens of thousands of their workers, many undocumented, low-wage men and women, working at jobs no one else wants. That is not to say that the manufacturing industry in the United States is not strong and growing, it is. Take a close look before you flip the coin.

So, what are those factors erasing jobs?  Robots and automation are one of those factors.  There are others that I will deal with in following articles. They will include thousands of high paying jobs that are unfilled for the lack of skilled people.

Who Are We At War With?

We are not at war with China or Mexico or any other country (for now). We are at war with ourselves. It is, in many ways, about infrastructure. Each administration talks about it (including yours) and does little or nothing. When we actually go to war, a shooting war, our military requires huge amounts of money, for planes and tanks and ships. And that money only comes from raising taxes (not mindless tax cutting)) that includes the very wealthy, millionaires and billionaires as well as corporations. Of course our national debt increases. It is from that additional war-tax money will come the jobs required for massive national infrastructure demands. As in war, the new infrastructure work will reduce and, possibly, eliminate our national debt as it did in in World War II.

“THE COAL MINERS’ ACT”

The coal miners in the Coal Miners’ Act is the generic term for a bipartisan congressional bill yet to be proposed and passed for the benefit of all hard working and unemployed men and women who are or have been employed doing non technical or manual work in every factory and mine. THE COAL MINERS’ Act is intended to provide and include well-paying jobs for those lacking a technical education and skills as well as for technicians. It is directed at both those employed and unemployed. It is all about infrastructure, costing an estimated three to four trillion dollars to rebuild or replace failing bridges, tunnels, dams, highways, rails, airports, power lines, safe water supply systems and so much more. It will not be done your way, Mr. President, by lowering individual and corporate taxes and leaving it up to each state to carry it out.

GETTING NOTHING FOR NOTHING

Please, don’t call us stupid Mr. President ... at least not most of us. We know we can’t go into a store and make purchases or order merchandise via email without paying for it. The majority of us know eliminating trade will cost us jobs and income in some sectors balanced by new jobs and income in other areas. The answers are not on bumper stickers or tweets. Theses are not emotional issues but rational, economic facts.

WHAT ARE THE FACTS?

Fact Number 1

A trade war or threats of one is already costing U.S. farmers and ranchers billions of dollars in exports they had but are now losing to other countries.

There is a snowball affect. Lost exports means that farmers and ranchers stop buying trucks, tractors, tools and a host of other equipment. Workers are laid off. Suppliers of everything from seeds to steel lose big time resulting in laid off workers.

Fact Number 2

There is no question that factories in this country have closed, costing thousands of jobs, due to low wage countries ability to produce lower priced goods. Their low priced products, I might add, are happily purchased by all of us. While we may no longer produce socks and underwear we do produce automobiles, airplanes, audio equipment, pharmaceuticals and so much else too numerous to list. What does that mean? Jobs! And that’s a fact.

Fact Number 3

We produce more millionaires and billionaires than any other country. I am sure that they are grateful for their wealth that could only happen here in America. Most of them are patriots and I am sure would be more than willing to pay their share and support an increase in America’s war tax.

DO YOU WANT ANY JOB OR A BETTER JOB?

A BETTER JOB...RIGHT

SO LET’S SKIP THE BALONEY WE’RE BEING FED

The workplace is changing at a rapid pace. Work that employs unskilled people is, in many cases, turning to robots and automation. The following is an article I first published May 16, 2016:

BACK TO THE MIDDLE CLASS

By

There are few jobs that robots can’t do now or will soon be able to do from working behind the counter at McDonald’s to driving a truck to advanced technology. The technology is there. It’s just a matter of costs. It is still cheaper to have people serving hamburgers and french-fries than to put robots behind the counter but the day is coming when that will not be the case.

THAT DAY HAS ARRIVED!

The following, in part, is from the Phoenix News Examiner in a feature article by Darius Rubics:

New McDonald’s In Phoenix Run Entirely By Robots

Phoenix, AZ – After seeing a decline in earnings for the first time in nine years, McDonald’s plans to do something no other restaurant of its kind has ever done before; open a store run entirely by robots.

37 year-old Paul Horner, a spokesman for McDonald’s told reporters that because of the demand for a $15/hr minimum wage, the company has been playing with the idea of a restaurant run entirely by robots for years and believes their “McRobots” are the answer.

 _________________________

MEETING THE ROBOT CHALLENGE

If you patronize a McDonald’s restaurant that is ROBOTIZED (my word) you may be sabotaging your own job or your own cause for a better job and wages. How so? Buying cheaper can sometimes be a job killer. The issue with McDonald’s, (they say) is having to pay a $15 minimum wage. Robots are now cheaper; (so they say) permitting McDonald’s to sell you a cheaper hamburger (maybe).

What about those jobs? If you buy from a McDonald’s using McRobots you are supporting job-losses for their human workers. You might pay a little more at a competing hamburger restaurant that uses human employees but you could be saving their jobs and McDonald’s might get the message.

There is a broader and more important message you can send to employers who are considering replacing their human employees, (such as you), with robots. Use robots to grow your business but add people as well. If you don’t, we will buy elsewhere. This goes far beyond the fast food businesses such as McDonald’s.

What About Your Job?

Robots are on the march and American companies could have your job in their sights.

“Robots can’t do my job!” you might exclaim.

Unfortunately, there are few jobs robots can’t do or will be unable to do.

In a Move to Self-driving Cars,

Big-Rig Trucks May Come First

By John  Markoff

... Still, automating commercial driving is controversial and –potentially a - job-killer. (Color added)

There are more than three million truck drivers in the United States, according to the American Trucking Association, and about one in every 15 workers in the country is employed in the trucking business. (My italics.)

There is concern that if commercial trucking is completely automated, it would be economically devastating for small towns in America that thrive from supporting the long-haul trucking industry.

“Right now, if you want to drive across Texas with nobody at the wheel, you’re 100 percent legal,” said Mr. Levandowski, who as a Google engineer, helped write draft legislation that permitted self-driving vehicles, which later became law in Nevada. ...

Robots are now being used to load trucks!

IS YOUR JOB SAFE FROM A... RAT?

Robot Automated Takeover

Following Article (In Part) by BILL INGRAM

Mr. Ingram is vice president of Adobe Analytics and Adobe Social.

...A recent Pew Research Center survey found that “65% of Americans expect that within 50 years robots and computers will ‘definitely’ or ‘probably’ do much of the work currently done by humans.”

... Last year MIT researchers developed a “Data Science Machine” that crunches numbers faster and more effectively than people. In competitions against human teams, it finished higher than two-thirds of its competitors. And where the human teams typically labored over their algorithms for months, the machine analyst took somewhere between two and 12 hours to produce each of its entries.

JOB SOLUTIONS

The First Pay Rung Up On The New Middleclass Job Ladder Is—

     $50,000 to $60,00 per year.

If you are not there yet, it (and more) could be yours!

FORGET ABOUT ROBOTS!

&

Ill-Informed, Narrow-Minded Politicians

The Imaginative Place For Creating Human Jobs

(NO ROBOTS!)

Time to get past the lack of imagination and non-ideas of politicians (Almost all of them).

THE GHOST -- THEY ARE FOOLISHLY

AFRAID OF IS ... DEBT... (To be explained)

MORE FACTS

1. The infrastructure throughout the U. S. A. is in various stages

of collapsing!

That means that bridges, dams, roads, tunnels, railways, power lines and airports are in desperate condition and are in need of replacement or repair. That work must be done if we, as a nation, hope to continue being first among nations. (That translates into hundreds of thousands to millions of well-paying jobs. (NO ROBOTS!)

2.   The railroad system across the U.S. is hopelessly outdated and must be modernized!

That means that in order to grow and prosper we have to first catch up to China, Japan and other modernizing, competitive nations. (That translates into tens of thousands of well-paying jobs.  (NO ROBOTS!

3.    Airports

America trails, even some second-rate nations, in having modern up-to-date airports and the most advanced and safest air-traffic-control systems. If we are to remain first among nations, it is past time to act. That means thousands upon thousands of jobs at every skill level. (SOME ROBOTS! MOSTLY PEOPLE!)

4. Healthcare, particularly, in rural America requires thousands of healthcare givers. What good is having healthcare insurance if there aren’t trained people to administer the needed healthcare? (NO ROBOTS!)

5. The water supply systems throughout America is in very bad shape, (with a few exceptions.), requiring thousands of trained people to administer and maintain them.

We are in need of trained people to protect the health of American families by providing pure water, keeping them safe from drinking contaminated water. (NO ROBOTS!)

6. Education

Teachers! Teachers! Teachers! {Thousands of them!} (ROBOT HELPERS!)

TIME TO GET PAST THE POLITICAL BALONEY

and

DEAL WITH WELL-PAYING JOB SOLUTIONS

FOR YOU and YOUR CHILDREN

O.K.

Let’s begin with one basic fact ... NOTHING IS FOR FREE!

The potential jobs leading to a middle-class life is yours to be had but at a national cost—an affordable national cost. It’s a cost that we must meet in order to keep America first among nations, all nations, together with having a large, growing middle-class.

Too many politicians scream and shout about DEBT and big government. Bring down the DEBT and shrink the government they bellow. Don’t saddle your children and grandchildren with trillions of dollars of government DEBT they scream. Lower taxes!

O.K.

Let’s take a moment and examine these politicians’ words. Should their advice be heeded what would be the result?

Ah... where shall we begin?

THE POLITICIANS WAY

shrink the DEBT + lower taxes? = smaller government

smaller government = little infrastructure fixed

little infrastructure fixed = USA falls back & few jobs

few jobs = unemployment & little middleclass advancement

THE POLITICIANS WAY = USA FALLING BEHIND MANY COUNTRIES + CHINA

THE INFRASTRUCTURE & JOBSWAY

new infrastructure = USA grows richer & stronger

USA grows stronger = millions more middleclass jobs

millions more middleclass jobs = billions more tax dollars

billions more tax dollars = shrinking USA DEBT

THE INFRASTRUCTURE & JOBS WAY = STRONGER, RICHER USA

THE INFRASTRUCTURE & JOBS WAY = MILLIONS MORE JOBS

THE INFRASTRUCTURE & JOBS WAY = BILLIONS MORE TAX DOLLARS

THE INFRASTRUCTURE & JOBS WAY = USA REDUCES DEBT

THE BOTTOM LINE! WINNING THE WAR!

There is, today, only one place in this country that can underwrite the huge numbers of meaningful, well-paying infrastructure jobs that we so desperately need in every state. That place is with the federal government underwriting the massive amount of infrastructure work the United States needs for its very survival to remain first among nations. I have attempted to point this out in a limited fashion above.

IT’S WAR! --- IT’S AN INTERNAL WAR AGAINST PHYSICAL COLLAPSE, UNEMPLOYMENT AND LOW-PAYING JOBS.

What does the U.S.A. do when it goes to war? I’ll tell you what it doesn’t do! It doesn’t shut down the way some politicians have shut down the government and threaten to do it again in an attempt to force it to cut the budget.

When America goes to war it goes to win! Debt or no debt we Americans will spend whatever money and effort it takes to win. We don’t shut down! When we win our war for national survival, which we can and will do, then we attend to the national debt.

That’s what we do! God bless America.
