The Side Effects Could Kill You

THOSE EXPENSIVE TV PITCHED DRUGS

&

THEIR HARMFUL SIDE EFFECTS

Look into the center and count to ten for a harmless side effect.

Unfortunately, the many side effects from most direct-to-consumer pharmaceuticals advertised on TV are not harmless. In some cases they could be deadly.

IT’S CALLED:

Direct-to-Consumer Pharmaceutical Advertising (DTCPA)

WARNING

DON’T BE YOUR OWN DOCTOR!

DOCTORS AND INSURANCE

Their TV advertisements say, if you experience any of the severe side effects of their drugs, call your doctor.

Question

What happens if you don’t have a doctor to call?

What happens if you can’t afford a doctor?

What happens if you don’t have insurance?

What happens if you have a deductible too big to cover the doctor’s costs?

COMPARE U.S. DRUG COSTS WITH  CANADA

This is just one, small example.

THE DRUG COMPANIES MUST STOP SCREWING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE!

Why does it come down to: If you don’t have insurance or not enough insurance coverage and can’t afford to pay for your medication(s) you could suffer or, possibly, die? Who cares? Well, for one, I do.

Why?  Frankly, I can’t explain it except for early memories that keep creeping into my conscious thoughts. I can remember early in my life having both my telephone and electricity shut off because of late payments. I couldn’t afford the dentist or doctor. Why does affect it me now?

There was a happening I experienced not to long ago that has stayed with me. While waiting for my prescription at my local drug store, I found myself standing behind an elderly lady at the counter getting her prescription. I heard the pharmacist say, as he handed her the prescription, “That will be $135.00.”

The elderly lady, without looking in her purse, handed the prescription back saying, “I must have left my money at home.” She turned and left, leaving her prescription with the pharmacist.

I doubt that she ever came back for the prescription she, most likely, couldn’t afford.

THE DRUG COMPANIES HAVE EXCUSES FOR THEIR HIGH PRICES

They will propagandize you with their excuses i.e. “The high cost of developing new drugs require their high charges.” That also comes under their costs of Direct-to-Consumer Pharmaceutical Advertising, DTCPA.

UNNAMED TV DOCTOR RECOMMENDED DRUGS?

Their TV advertisements will often say that (unnamed) doctors recommend their drugs. It could be true. It could also be true that those very-same doctors are paid or underwritten by the very same drug companies.

If you think you need a doctor don’t try and save money by making your TV a substitute!

There will be more to come. Let me know your own experiences I will try to include some of them in my next piece. Perhaps if enough of us keep applying pressure on the drug companies there will some movement to lower drug costs on their part.
